— Brazil is on track to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia despite losing to Ecuador in the Confederations Cup quarterfinals, the Confederates Cup final and the Confederated Press Association World Cup semifinals.

The 12-man World Cup squad won its first World Cup berth in Russia on Sunday in a 2-0 victory over the United States in a semifinal.

Brazil has already qualified for the 2018 Confederations and the 2022 World Cup finals, while the United Kingdom will be playing in the 2019 World Cup final in South Africa.

In the final, Brazil and Ecuador will meet again in 2019, with the winner hosting the 2019 Confederations title game in St. Petersburg.

However, the U.S. beat Argentina 2-1 in the semifinal, setting up a rematch against Ecuador on Tuesday in the championship game in the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 31 players have played in a World Cup for Brazil.
