Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Rio de Janerio, the world’s largest city, has been celebrating the Rio Games with a huge fireworks display on Sunday night, with thousands of people participating in the festivities as well as a huge parade and fireworks show in the center of the city.

Brazilians celebrated the opening ceremony of the Games on Saturday, with many taking part in celebrations and parades in the city center.

In a statement on its website, the city government said: “The opening ceremony is a very important event for all citizens of Rio de Jirga and it is a privilege to celebrate the occasion with our people.”

The city has hosted the Games four times in the past 10 years, most recently in 2008, which drew a record 4.4 million spectators.
